Improve the Security of Batang Area Area, BPI Installs National Vital Objects Board

BATANG—PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) installed information boards on National Vital Objects (Obvitnas) throughout the Central Java Power Plant 2 x 1,000 MW area (Batang Power Plant), after the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MoEMR) designated it as an Obvitnas in the field of energy and mineral resources. Later, the security system will be further improved and tightened in accordance with the Operational Standards (SOP) of the National Vital Objects area.

 
General Manager Stakeholder Relations of BPI Aryamir Sulasmoro in Batang, said that the determination of the status of obvitnas is a form of the government's commitment to infrastructure development, especially in the electricity sector. Currently, the Company is still coordinating with the Central Java Regional Police (Polda), to follow up on the security system that must be implemented at the Batang Power Plant as Obvitnas. Obvitnas according to Presidential Decree No. 63 of 2004 is an area/location, building/installation or business that concerns the lives of many people, state interests and strategic sources of state income, and must fulfill any, part or all of the characteristics, including producing basic daily needs, threats and disturbances to them resulting in disasters to humanity and development, transportation and communication chaos nationally and disruption administration of state government.
 
"The installation of the Obvitnas information board is intended to inform the public, that the Batang Power Plant is one of the Obvitnas where any disturbance to this project will be dealt with in accordance with laws and regulations considering that the security system applied is the operational standard of the Obvitnas area." Aryamir said.
 
Aryamir also added that the company remains committed to being a reliable power plant and is able to consistently provide electricity supply to PLN through the 'Jamali Grid' network. In addition, the owner of the coal-fired power plant who is part of the community is also committed to continuing to strengthen the beneficiaries of the corporate social responsibility program to become more independent and contribute to a sustainable environment. Corporate social responsibility programs that have been implemented since 2012 include economic, educational, health, social, cultural, and infrastructure programs.
 
"We will maximize our contribution to the community and environment and be neighbors who can provide benefits to the regional economy and the lives of local residents," he said.
 
Aryamir Sulasmoro said the decision to become a national vital object was received on December 28, 2023 through a letter from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number T-2450/BN.05/SJA.4/2023. Batang Power Plant that uses ultra supercritical technology is designated as obvitnas based on the results of inventory and verification of areas/locations, buildings/installations, and/or businesses that meet the characteristics and criteria set.
 
"This determination is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 448.K / BN.05 / MEM. S/2023 dated December 20, 2023," he added. (*)
