BEST Class Goes to School Encourages Students to Simulate Fire Emergency Response
Bhimasena Power - Batang Power Plant, - PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) through the BEST (BPI Experience, Sharing, and Teaching) Class Goes to School program continues to provide education to the community, especially the younger generation in Batang Regency. This program aims to introduce Batang Power Plant while providing important knowledge related to safety and disaster management. On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, BEST Class Goes to School visited SMP N 2 Kandeman with the theme “Basic Fire Fighting Techniques”.
This activity was attended by 40 students who were eager to learn the theory and practice of fire management. During the session, students were given knowledge on the use of Light Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blanket. With an interactive approach, the students not only understood the theory but also had the opportunity to practice directly under the guidance of the BPI Fire Brigade team.
BPI's HSE General Manager, Josman Ginting, said that this activity is in line with the company's commitment to provide disaster response education to the community.
“This activity is our effort to provide practical knowledge to students about basic fire-fighting techniques. This is also in line with the company's values that safety is our top priority. We hope the students can get useful supplies to deal with emergency situations in the future,” said Josman Ginting.
This activity received positive appreciation from the Head of SMP N 2 Kandeman, Suningsih, S.Pd., M.Si. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia for providing valuable experience for the students.
“We are very grateful for today's activity. We appreciate this activity and hopefully BPI will continue to be our partner. We really need knowledge about fire management as a provision to face unwanted disasters in the future,” she said.
The enthusiasm of the students of SMP N 2 Kandeman was evident throughout the program. One of the participants, Mahful Arifin, expressed his excitement at being able to participate in this program.
“I am very happy to be able to get new knowledge and new experiences related to fire management. I am also proud to be able to participate in this training with the ladies and gentlemen from BPI. Hopefully what we learned today can be useful for me and other friends,” he said.
Through the BEST Class Goes to School program, BPI shows its role not only as an Independent Power Producer but also as an educational partner that cares about developing community knowledge, especially in the aspect of safety. With activities like this, it is hoped that students can be more prepared and responsive in dealing with potential disasters, while understanding the importance of safety in everyday life. (*)
