Hundreds of Farmers Affected by the Batang CFPP Project Receive Compensation Funds

Batang - Hundreds of farmers and farm laborers affected by the construction of a Coal-Fired Power Plant (PLTU) in Batang, Central Java, received fresh funds from PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), as the owner of the power plant construction, Wednesday (23/3/2016).

 
This compensation is given once a month to 511 farm workers and 241 smallholders who are affected by the construction of the Coal-Fired Power Plant 2 x 1.000 MW in Batang. The amount of compensation varies, namely Rp. 375,000 for farmers and Rp. 450,000 for farm laborers.
 
"This activity is part of BPI's commitment and responsibility to contribute to maintaining the economy of farmers and farm laborers affected by the Central Java CFPP project," said BPI President Director Mohammad Effendi.
 
In the same place, Efendi explained, as the person in charge of the power plant project, BPI is committed to helping the economy of the community around the project area. In fact, according to Efendi, it is projected that during the construction process, the construction of the Central Java CFPP will be able to absorb up to 5,000 workers.
 
"BPI will prioritize the people of Batang and its surroundings to be directly involved in this project," he explained.
 
The construction of the CFPP, which is predicted to supply the Java-Bali electricity needs itself, is currently accelerating the construction preparation process which will be carried out in the near future. Tomorrow Thursday (24/03/2016), a guardrail will be installed throughout the CFPP construction area.
 
Batang Regent, Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo hopes that the CFPP construction can be carried out soon. He believes that the existence of this CFPP will have a tremendous impact. Not only for the surrounding community but also for anticipating the electricity crisis in Java-Bali.
 
"With the Central Java CFPP, the effect can be directly felt by all levels of society, especially for the local community. At the beginning of the construction process, this development has opened jobs and absorbed workers who are local residents," said Yoyok.
